PRESENTATION NIGHT, FRIDAY, MAY 3

Mark this date in your calendar! The 2012/13 season Presentation Night (and Box Hill Athletic Club Annual General Meeting) will be held at the club rooms on Friday, May 3. This is a great opportunity to celebrate all of the achievements and successes of the past year. More details to come!

 

CLUB 5K HANDICAP, APRIL 20

The traditional opening to the winter season is the annual 5k club handicap race, which will be held at the usual location at Gardiners Creek at 10:00am on Saturday, April 20. Everyone is welcome to take part (although only registered club members are eligible to win trophies!). If you wish to take part please let us know and tell us your fastest time this season for 5000m (or 3000m or 1500m) or an estimate of your finish time so that handicaps can be allocated. Race, run or jog and then stay around for the brunch that will follow the event. Spectators, helpers and timekeepers are most welcome!

 

REGISTRATIONS DUE SOON

Registrations for the 2013/14 athletics year will fall due on April 1. Your registration will be valid for the 2013 winter XCR competition season as well as next summer track and field season. A registration form is attached which you can print and send in to the club.

 

CROSS COUNTRY IS COMING!

With the track and field season coming towards its conclusion it is time for some to start planning for the upcoming winter season.

XCR’13, cross country and road racing season will kick off with the Jells Park cross country relays on April 27, followed by the Sandown Road relays on May 11. The AV season will be preceeded by the annual club 5k handicap race, which will be held on the usual course at Gardiners Creek on Saturday April 20.

STEVE KELLY 56TH AT WORLD CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Congratulations to Steve Kelly who represented Australia with distinction in the world cross country championships in Poland last weekend. In freezing, muddy conditions Steve was the 4th Australian across the line in 56th place overall in a time of 34:52 for the 12km journey. He was part of the Australian team that finished in 7th place in the teams competition.

 

CLUB RECORD TO NATALIA

Congratulations to Natalia Kremenchutskaya who jumped a club record of 12.41m in the Triple Jump at the Perth Classic recently

 

RUN FOR THE KIDS

Congratulations to Steve Dinneen who finished 3rd out of more than 18,000 runners in the 15km Run for the Kids on Sunday and to Mitchell Dyer who won the 5.5km event in a time of 17:43.
