GIRLS KEEP WINNING, MEN SUFFER FIRST LOSS FOR THE SEASON
STATE LEAGUE ROUND 5
OLYMPIC PARK, THURSDAY 14th December

While the women’s team remained undefeated and two and a half points clear on top of the ladder, the men were unable to match last years premier Bayside and suffered their first loss for the season.

WOMEN

Another comfortable victory for the team, with several individual highlights on the night. A major bonus for the team was the return of Larissa Tourchinskaya in the Shot Put and Discus, with her win in the Shot Put being our first points in that event for the season. 18 year old Erica Sigmont continues to improve over 800, winning her heat and Georgina Power returned to the 100Hurdles for the first time this season. Wendy Muldoon again won her heat of the 300M Walk and juniors Jess DeBruin and Jocelyn Keage performed well in the 5000M.

MEN

It was always going to be a difficult night with so many athletes unavailable through injury and commitments, but the team managed to hang on to second place. The night started well with Chris West and Cameron Baker taking maximum points in the 400 Hurdles, and Stephen Hooker again winning the Pole vault. Unfortunately the lack of field event athletes was again the teams undoing, despite the return of Rod Bird in the Hammer Throw. The club again dominated the distance events, with Michael Jones and Marcus Tierney leading the way.
