STATE LEAGUE ROUND 10
21 FEBRUARY 2002

The Box Hill Men's State League team again had a successful night to probably finish second or third in tonight's Round 10 of State League competition (once again Athletics Victoria were unable to give any indication of the final result of competition at the end of the evening).

Cameron Baker continued on his good form from last week to finish third in the pole vault with a jump of 3.80 m.

Against strong opposition in the 100 m, Braden Fraser finished third in the first heat in 11.13, with Mohammad Zeed second in the second heat in 11.27 and Lane Harrison second in the third heat in 11.22.

Toby Pallet made a welcome return to the team to finish second in the Shot Put with a put of 13.10 m and then finished a close third in the discus with a throw of 41.17 m.

Michael Jones ran a sensible race in the first heat of the 1500 m to finish 2nd in 3:55.5, while Marcus Tierney showed improved form to win the second heat in 3:57, with Barry Lynch 6th in 4:02.8

Adam Rabone unfortunately failed to qualify in the triple jump while Steven Miles managed to hit just about every hurdle in the 110 m hurdles and just miss qualifying with a time of 18.1s.

The 4 x 100 m team of Braden Fraser, James Fildes, Lane Harrison and Mohammad Zeed produced some great changes to easily win the relay in 42.50 s.

Paul Boxshall showed that he is recovering from his recent illness with a good run in the 300 m steeplechase to finish 4th in 9:42, ahead of Luke Yeatman who ran 9:51.

Marty Duke ran another good 400 m race to finish 4th in the first heat in 48.5, while Tim Cherry ran home strongly in the second heat in a time of 50.3 for 3rd, with Lane Harrison running 51.5 for 2nd in the third heat - his first race over the distance.

The Box Hill women's team again struggled to finish mid-field but are still well placed on the ladder and sure to make the finals once again.

The next round of State League competition is not for another 3 weeks, however with most of our teams in the venue finals, it is important that everyone turns up at Box Hill on Saturday to support the teams and make sure that they make in through to the Association Finals.
