With two rounds to go in the State League Season Box Hill now leads the ladder by 4 and a half points and can make the finals without turning up to the last two rounds. On the other hand the men’s team will need a miracle to avoid contesting the promotion relegation meet.

Despite the absence of several athletes Box Hill again comfortably won the 8^th round of State League and is a clear leader with two rounds to go before the finals. The continued good form is also a good sign for the National club championships in February where Box Hill will be looking to defend its title.

The win was a reflection of the teams overall good performance with only 3 athletes winning their events on the night. But those performances by Kerri Jorgensen in the 800, Georgina Power in the 100Hurdles and Larissa Tourchinskaya in the Shot Put were well backed up by a strong team, determined to win the clubs first State League Title since 1993.

In contrast to the women’s team, their were several outstanding performances by the men, but again too many events were left unfilled. With juniors like Tim Williams winning his heat of the 200, Michael Jones winning the 800 and the 400relay team winning by 100 metres the team has the foundations to be a finals contender in the future.
