The team consolidated its position on top of the ladder with a comfortable second placing. Highlights included wins by Wendy Muldoon in the walk, Beth Bird in her 400 heat, and new crowned Victorian Champion, Ashley Hayes in the Pole Vault. With several athletes unavailable this week due to Grand Prix commitments the team can only get stronger as finals come around.

In the highest scoring round of the season, it was the sprinters who led the way, dominating the 100’s and the 100 relay. We have now moved off the bottom but still need to win the next round and have Geelong or Melbourne University finish last to avoid the promotion/relegation round.

Wins on the night to Ashley Rowan and Tim Williams in the 100, Trent Hartshorne in the 400, and Luke Yeatman in the 3000Steeple gave the team a strong base. Special mention must also be made of Graeme Olden who filled in over 1500 at the last minute and followed this up with a run in the steeplechase only 7 seconds slower than when he ran it fresh at Victorian Championships on the weekend.
