Results from the 4th round of State League competition held at Landy Field, Geelong, on Saturday November 27, 1999.

With a limited number of athletes available to make the trip down to Geelong, we had a disappointing day, with the women placing 3rd and the men finishing 4th, just behind Ringwood.

Highlights included Jenny Marshall winning the 400 and Georgina Power running a P.B. to win the Hurdles again. For the men Andrew Wilcox ran a season’s best in the 400 and we dominated the 1500, with neither Ringwood or Essendon fielding athletes. Unfortunately we are still unable to field athletes in far to many events to be competitive.

The most bizarre incident of the day would have to be the re-running of the 100 Relay. Unfortunately the officials and the athletes from several clubs in our heat were unable to hear the lane draw, and put them in the wrong lane at the first changeover. After a protest, the race was re-run later in the afternoon. Despite some blistering speed from Tom out of the blocks, 4 distance runners aren’t much good against nationally ranked sprinters.
