Box Hill athletes shine in Queensland

August 27, 2018

Box Hill runners performed strongly at the national cross country championships on the Sunshine Coast in August, filling four of the top 20 places in the open men’s race.

On the tough, hilly Maleny golf course, Will Potter put in an outstanding performance to finish 8th, just ahead of Andre Waring (12th) and Nick Baggott (14th). Harry Summers led bravely early in the race but faded to finish 19th. Evergreen John Meagher also ran well to finish in 31st place.

In the junior events, Tom Sellwood finished 10th, Sam Rattray 21st and Finn Macken 55th in the U20s, Josh McLeod was 9th and Kieren Hesse 49th in the U18s, Doug Buckeridge 9th, Jack Armstrong 25th and Thomas Diamond 53rd in the U16s and Izak Bibile finished 37th in the U14 event.

Congratulations to all these runners.
