Box Hill’s Georgia Griffith is the first Australian female athlete to achieve IAAF World Championship qualifying standards for both the 800m and 1500m.
Competing in the Portland Track Festival in Oregon, USA, Georgia ran a brilliant personal best of 2:00.9 to qualify for the World Championships in London later this year and next year’s Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. This was the fastest time by an Australian woman since 2011.
Georgia claimed another World Championship qualifier when she won the 1500m High Performance Race with a personal best time of 4:07.32. Well done Georgia!
