ROUND 6 OF SHIELD COMPETITION ON THIS THURSDAY AT NUNAWADING
Round 6 of shield competition will be held at Nunawading on this Thursday night, December 10. It is important that we get some good results (particularly our men’s teams) to make sure that all our teams qualify for the finals in February.

The program starts at 6:00pm (5:30pm for the hammer throw) with the walk and the 400m hurdles. These events are followed by the 200m, 800m, 4x200m and the 5000m (3000m for juniors).

The field events will be the hammer throw, shot put, high jump and triple jump. Please make sure that you check in early for the field events.

The program for round 6 (and also the program for round 7) is attached.

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO OLIVIA AND MATTHEW

Congratulations to all the Box Hill athletes who performed well at the Australian All Schools Championships at Albert Park on the weekend. A special mention to Olivia Carah who won the national U18 pole vault championships with a jump of 3.55m and to Matthew Harcourt who ran a club record of 52.84 to take silver in the Under 18 400m hurdles.

 

GEORGIA QUALIFIES FOR WORLD JUNIORS AT MILERS CLUB

There were some great performances at the Miler’s Club meet at Box Hill last week.

The highlight of the night was a world junior championships qualifying time of 2:07.08 by Georgia Hansen in the 800m behind Georgia Griffith’s 2:06.73.

Georgia Griffith lead from the start to run a time that ranks her 1st in Australia in the U20 age group for 2015, while Georgia Hansen stuck with her the whole way to run a huge PB and qualify for next year’s world juniors.

There were a number of other great runs with many personal bests by Box Hill athletes including an 800m time of 1:57.70 by 15 year old Darcy Powne.

ZATOPEK MEET

Box Hill athletes performed well at the Zatopek Meet on Saturday night.

Our young women’s 4x400m team of Sophia Davis, Georgia Hansen, Monica Van Wynen and Georgia Griffith, performed brilliantly to take the silver medal in the state championships. Flavien Basson and Joel Pocklington both cleared 5.01m to be joint winners of the pole vault,. Liam Harris and Blake Lucas cleared 4.56m and Josiah Becker and James Filshie went over 4.41m. Olivia Carah was equal 2nd in the women’s event with 3.36m and Jacqueline Williams cleared 3.21m. Former Box Hill member, Harry summers finished 4th in the 10,000m in 28:42
