CRUDEN FARM CROSS COUNTRY ON THIS SATURDAY

Round 3 of the XCR’16 season will be held at a new venue, the scenic Cruden Farm at Langwarrin, on Saturday, May 21. Enter via McClelland Drive, off Cranbourne Rd.

To compete, you must be registered and have paid your fees, with an XCR’16 package or the “max package” or have paid an individual entry fee AND you must have your registration approved by the club before noon on the Wednesday before the event. Please don’t leave it until the last minute!

This is the “Heritage” round and athletes are encouraged to celebrate the history of this event.

Program:

12:00 noon:     4km cross country       U14 men and women

12:20pm:         6km cross country       U16 men and women, U18 women, U20 men

12:50pm:         8km cross country       Open and U20 women

1:35pm:           8km cross country       U18 men

2:05pm:           16km cross country     Open men

  

MOVIE NIGHT, MAY 29 AT BALWYN CINEMA – GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!

Four athletes from Box Hill Athletics Club, Kathryn Brooks (Javelin), Nana Owusu-Afriyie (4x100m), Sarah Billings (800m + 4x400m) and Georgia Hansen (800m) have been selected to represent Australia and compete at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland in July.
A Movie night fundraiser is being held at the Balwyn Cinema to assist with some of the costs associated with the trip.

A light supper will be provided prior to the movie starting up-stairs at the cinema.

Tickets are $20 and can be collected from Kathryn, Nana, Sarah or Georgia or you can transfer the money to the following NAB account with your name and ‘movie night’ as the transfer description and number of tickets you are paying for.

NATHAN COMPETES IN ROME

Congratulations to Canberra based Box Hill athlete Nathan Brill who represented Australia in open competition for the first time in the 20km event at the World Race Walking Team Championships in Rome last week. In hot conditions Nathan finished in 95th position in a time of 1:32:48. Nathan has returned from a long period of injury to set a club record of 1:27:14 back in February to qualify for this event.

XCR’16 CALENDAR

Round 3 – Cruden Farm Cross Country               Date: Saturday 21 May

16km cross country for open men and 6km for open women, various junior distances

Round 4 – Lake Wendouree Road Race                Date: Saturday 4 June

15km for open men and women, 5km for juniors
Round 5 – Bundoora Cross Country Champs       Date: Saturday 18 June
This day incorporates the Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships and also serves as the selection trial for the Australian Cross Country Championships. The open and overage men’s race covers 12km while the women’s race covers 10km. Juniors race over 3km, 4km, 6km or 8km.

Round 6 – Sandown Road Relay                            Date: Saturday 9 July

6.2km legs for open ages, 3.1km for juniors
Round 7 – Albert Park Road Race                         Date: Sunday 17 July

10km open race, 3km junior race
Round 8 – Anglesea Surf Coast Ekiden Relay       Date: Saturday 6 August

Various distances
Round 9 – Victorian Half Marathon                       Date: Sunday 4 September

21.1km along Burnley boulevard (no junior races)
Round 10 – Tan Relays                                            Date: Saturday 17 September
