BOX HILL WINS MENS DIVISION 1 PREMIERSHIP

Throughout the 2000s, Box Hill won eight State League/Division 1 premierships in a row, but have not won for the past 4 years, so it was great to see the Club return to the top with a great win in the Shield final at Albert Park on Saturday. Every team member contributed to this success, so thank you and congratulations to all team members. Some of the highlights include:

  • Olympians Steve Hooker and Brendan Cole racing in the 200m and 4x400m relays
  • Mohamad Zeed running a PB to win the first track event, the 400 hurdles, to start the day off in inspiring fashion
  • Michael Dowel fitting in a PB in the triple jump in between his 5000m and 800m events
  • David Thomson competing in three events despite a sore foot suffered in last weeks national medal winning decathlon.
  • David Grant and David Thomson finishing 1-2 in the shot put
  • Blake Lucas doing the 200m, shot put and high jump triple

BOX HILL WINS WOMENS UNDER 16 TEAM GO BACK TO BACK

Our Under 16 women’s team have defended the shield premiership they won last year in decisive fashion. Despite having several runners unavailable the girls scored 781 points, 96 points clear of Keilor-St. Bernards and over 150 points in front of Ringwood and Diamond Valley.

Again it was a great team effort with nearly all members of the team doing multiple events.
