GOOD LUCK – Australian Junior Chams, Victorian Masters Champs

Good luck to all the Box Hill athletes who are competing in championships this weekend. Box Hill has a strong contingent of runners representing Victoria in the national junior championships in Sydney. The Victorian master’s championships will also be held this weekend.

Please be aware that the track is sometimes booked by schools and other users (see club website for details). In particular note that the track is booked for a Miler’s Club meets on Thursday, March 19, and Thursday, March 26 from 7:00pm. There is also a booking during the day on Wednesday, March 25, which will mean that the track is unavailable for training until 5:00pm on that day.

The 800m and 1500m events on March 19 can be entered via the Victorian Miler’s Club website. The 3000m and 5000m events on March 26 are open to all (not just AV members) and is therefore run under the title of the Victorian Running Network. You can enter these events via the AV website.

The 2015 cross country and road racing season starts in just 5 weeks. The first event will be the cross country relays at Jells Park on Saturday, April 18. Let’s hope that Box Hill can have another successful winter season.

CLUB 5K HANDICAP – Saturday, April 11

The Club’s annual 5k handicap race will be held at the usual venue, along the bike paths at Gardiner’s Creek in Box Hill South, on the morning of Saturday April 11. Meet at 9:00am for a 9:30 start. The run will be followed by brunch. This will be the launch of our winter season and we hope that as many members as possible will come along to race, run or jog the 5km course (or help out with timing).

Congratulations to Dion Finocchiaro who won the Coburg 6 hour Race, setting an Australian record of 84.637km (averaging 4:15 per km for 6 hours!). A fantastic effort by Dion.

Congratulations to those athletes who performed well at the AV knockout final last Saturday, especially those who won their events (apologies if we missed any results)
