If you have any questions about registration, please let us know.

Life members and international representatives should contact the club.

ROUND 1 OF XCR’15 ON APRIL 18

The 2015 cross country and road racing season starts in just over 2 weeks. The first event will be the cross country relays at Jells Park on Saturday, April 18.

Please let us know if you are available to compete in this event. We are hoping to enter teams in all age groups, but we need an idea of how many athletes are available to run before we can enter our teams..

Remember that to compete at Jells Park you must be registered for the new 2015/16 season.

CLUB 5K HANDICAP – Saturday, April 11

The Club’s annual 5k handicap race will be held at the usual venue, along the bike paths at Gardiner’s Creek in Box Hill South, on the morning of Saturday April 11. Meet at 9:00am in the car park next to the Bennetswood bowls club for a 9:30am race start. The run will be followed by brunch. This will be the launch of our winter season and we hope that as many members as possible will come along to race, run or jog the 5km course (or help out with timing and eating the brunch!).

If you plan to run please let us know as soon as possible. Also tell us you best recent time over 5000m (or 3000m or 1500m) and/or estimated 5k time so that a handicap can be calculated for you.

PRESENTATION NIGHT – MAY 1

The Box Hill Athletic Club Presentation Night will be held at the clubrooms on Friday night, May 1. This is a great chance to celebrate another successful year and we hope that all members can attend. This night will also incorporate the Box Hill Athletic Club annual general meeting. More details next week.

CONGRATULATIONS COURTNEY!

Courtney Powell put in a great performance for Australia at the world cross country championships in China last weekend. Despite a fall in training that left Courtney racing with a gash on her forehead, she ran a strong race to finish in 42nd place, just behind the first Australian in the race (Victoria Mitchell, 40th). At just 19 years of age, this is a terrific result.

RESULTS FROM NATIONALS

Congratulations to Matthew Harcourt and to Will Seton who won medals in the Australian junior decathlon championships in Brisbane on the weekend.

Matthew scored 6433 points to take the silver in the under 18 decathlon, while Will scored 5997 points to win bronze in the under 20 event.
