PRESENTATION NIGHT, FRIDAY, MAY 3

Mark this date in your calendar! The 2012/13 season Presentation Night (and Box Hill Athletic Club Annual General Meeting) will be held at the club rooms on Friday, May 3. This is a great opportunity to celebrate all of the achievements and successes of the past year. More details to come!

 

AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX FUN RUN: KELLY 1st, DINNEEN 2nd

Box Hill runners took the quinella at the inaugural Australian Grand Prix fun run, held at Albert Park around the Formula One grand prix circuit. Steve Kelly won the 10km race in the time of 29:44 ahead of Steve Dinneen, who ran 30:08.

 

NIKKI CHAPPLE MARATHON DEBUT IN JAPAN

Nikki Chapple finished 12th in the Nagoya International Women’s Marathon in Nagoys, Japan last Sunday. Nikki ran the excellent time of 2:32.31 in her debut marathon, breaking Megan Sloane’s long standing club record.

MILERS CLUB AT BOX HILL ON MARCH 21 FROM 7:00PM

The Milers Club will be adding the following races to Meet 5, to be held at Box Hill on Thursday 21st March:

800m – Elite Men’s and Women’s races?Top 10 male and female applicants to be selected based on performances since 1st October 2012.  Indicative standards are sub 1:54 for men and sub 2:15 for women.  Athletes will be advised by Monday 18th March if they are competing and be given an opportunity to enter the 1500m if they have missed out.  These races will only take place if there are a minimum of 7 starters.

3000m Women only?A 10:20 qualifying standard (since 1st October 2012) will apply.

We will endeavour to have electronic timing for these events.

The proposed event schedule is:??1500m – slowest to fastest (7:00pm start time)

800m – Men’s and Women’s elite races

5000m – Men’s A race

3000m – Women’s elite race

REGISTRATIONS DUE SOON

Registrations for the 2013/14 athletics year will fall due on April 1. Your registration will be valid for the 2013 winter XCR competition season as well as next summer track and field season.

 

CROSS COUNTRY IS COMING!

With the track and field season coming towards its conclusion it is time for some to start planning for the upcoming winter season.

XCR’13, cross country and road racing season will kick off with the Jells Park cross country relays on April 27, followed by the Sandown Road relays on May 11. The AV season will be preceeded by the annual club 5k handicap race, which will be held on the usual course at Gardiners Creek on Saturday April 20. More details to come soon.
