Box Hill had a successful day at the 8km cross country event at St Anne’s Winery at Myrniong on 1 June. Our club won the men’s Premier Division event thanks to strong performances from Dejen Gebreselassie, Harry Summers, Will Potter, Nick Baggott, Andre Waring and Alex Ritchie.
Congratulations to Jeremy Griffith, who is the new president of Box Hill Athletic Club following our AGM in May. Jeremy takes over from Chris O’Connor, who has worked tirelessly for the club since becoming president in 2011.
Thanks to the timekeepers, helpers and runners who supported the club 5k handicap event on 27 April.

Box Hill athletes collected 10 gold, 13 silver and nine bronze medals at the Victorian Track and Field Championships held over the first two weekends in March. Congratulations to all of our athletes!
Box Hill had five teams qualify for the shield finals at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday and we came away with two premierships, a second place and two fifth placings. Congratulations to our Under 16 boys and our Under 16 girls who won the premiership in their age groups.
The AV Shield final will be held at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday, and Box Hill teams have qualified in five divisions. Good luck to our Men Open Division 1, Men Over 40, Men Under 16, Women Open Division 1 and Women Under 16 teams!
A great night of racing was promised, and Box Hill Athletic Club delivered! National qualifiers were achieved, PBs were slashed and the record 410 athletes gave spectators an exciting night of tightly contested races.
Harry Summers has been selected to represent Australia in the World Cross Country Championships to be held in Denmark on March 30. This is a great reward for all the work Harry has put in to get back into his best form. Congratulations to Harry and to his coach, Steve Dinneen.
The highly successful Box Hill Classic is back! As we move toward the pointy end of the track season, the Box Hill Classic on Thursday 7 February is a great opportunity to trim your PB or try for a national qualifying time.
