XCR ’19 Round 3 – Bundoora

June 15, 2019

Congratulations to Box Hill’s Harry Summers and Ashlee Treagus, who won gold at the Victorian Cross Country Championships at Bundoora Park on 15 June. In what was a great day for the club, Box Hill won the Premier division men’s competition as well as the men’s division 2, men’s over 50, women’s division 4, women’s division 5 and women’s over 50 competitions. Our teams finished 2nd in the men’s division 5, women’s division 2, and the women’s division 5.


XCR ’19 Round 2 – St Anne’s Winery

Box Hill had a successful day at the 8km cross country event at St Anne’s Winery at Myrniong on 1 June. Our club won the men’s Premier Division event thanks to strong performances from Dejen Gebreselassie, Harry Summers, Will Potter, Nick Baggott, Andre Waring and Alex Ritchie.


Jeremy Griffith elected BHAC president

Congratulations to Jeremy Griffith, who is the new president of Box Hill Athletic Club following our AGM in May. Jeremy takes over from Chris O’Connor, who has worked tirelessly for the club since becoming president in 2011.


XCR ’19 Round 1 – Jells Park Relays

In wet and windy conditions, Box Hill teams picked up six medals and two fourth placings in the opening round of the XCR’19 season. Our men’s and women’s Over 50 teams both had big wins, while our Men’s Premier Division, Women’s Division 2, Women’s Over 40 and Women’s Under 20 also finished on the podium.


Andre wins club’s 5km handicap

Harry Summers performs strongly in Denmark

Congratulations to Harry Summers, who performed with distinction at the World Cross Country Championships in Denmark on Saturday. In what some consider the most competitive event in the world, and over an extremely difficult course, Harry finished in 56th place and was the third Australian across the line.


Good luck to our Nationals athletes!

The Australian Track and Field Championships have started this week in Sydney, and Box Hill Athletic Club has representatives across the open and junior age groups.


Great result for our athletes at state titles

Box Hill athletes collected 10 gold, 13 silver and nine bronze medals at the Victorian Track and Field Championships held over the first two weekends in March. Congratulations to all of our athletes!
